Emerging analytical techniques used for nanocrystal and nanosuspension

Vijay Agarwal

Since last decade, many nanoformulations like; nanosupension and nanocrystal have received the significant attention as a approachable tool to deliver the drug at the specific site and diagnosis. Drug nanocrystals are the nanoparticles, which are present in solid state...

Quaternary ammonium palmitoyl glycol chitosan-based nano-doxorubicin delivery system: Potential applications for cancer treatment and theranostic

Ummarah Kanwal; Nadeem Irfan Bukhari*; Abida Raza; Khalid Hussain; Nasir Abbas

Recently, the doxorubicin loaded Quaternary Ammonium Palmitoyl Glycol Chitosan (DOX-GCPQ) nanoformulation for DOX delivery and non-invasive monitoring of DOX accumulation and biodistribution at tumor site utilizing DOX’s self-florescent property was evaluated. DOX-GCPQ amphiphilic polymeric nanoformulations were prepared and optimized using Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and like other particulate delivery systems, optimized formulation has been characterized by atomic force microscopy, dynamic light scattering, FTIR and XRD.

Toxicological aspects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in relation to different organs

Zorawar Singh*; Navjot Kaur

Nano-sized titanium dioxide particles belong to most widely manufactured Nanoparticles (NPs) on a global scale because of their unique properties. TiO2 NPs are among the top five nanoparticles used in consumer products. In the present chapter, an attempt has been made to compile the available reports revealing the toxic effects of these nano-moieties. TiO2 NPs may be either ingested or inhaled into the human body through most common routes of exposure including oral-gastrointestinal tract and lungs...

Biomolecule stabilized/functionalized nanomaterials: Advanced synthesis strategies, characterization and unique properties as antimicroorganism agent

Foysal Kabir Tareq*; Mst Fayzunnesa; Md Shahariar Kabir; Rashida Parvin; Md Ashrafuzzaman Zahid*

Nano sized materials has been considered as emerging materials in the field of nanotechnology due to its unique physiochemical and biological properties. Metal nanoparticles and biomolecule stabilized/functionalized nanoparticles are being explored in every part of science and engineering along with medical fields due to its less toxicity and high surface area to volume ratio...

Nanocomposite Membranes for the Separation of Emulsified Oily Wastewater

Paola Bernardo*; Gabriele Clarizia

This chapter provides an overview on the membrane technology applied to the separation of emulsified oily wastewater as alternative to conventional methods, focusing mainly on the nanocomposite materials. These systems are capable to enhance the performance of the membranes reducing the incidence of fouling issues and low permeation fluxes. The more recent progresses in membrane research are discussed, evidencing the future directions and the main challenges to face.
