Computer Simulation Study on Surface Composition of Bimetallic Nanocatalysts Synthesized in Microemulsion Template

Concha Tojo*

A simulation study on the preparation of bimetallic nanocatalysts in microemulsion template was carried out to analyze the influence of different synthetic parameters on the composition of nanoparticle surface. In particular, the surface composition was studied by varying reduction rates of the two metals, reactants concentration and microemulsion composition.

Synthesis and Applications of Gold Nanoparticles

Juan Li*; Zaizhu Lou*

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have attracted extensive interest for over a century due to their unique plasmonic properties. In this review, we present a short overview of the synthetic methods, variety of shapes and recent applications of AuNPs in optical, catalytic and biomedical areas. Metallic nanoparticles, especially gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have attracted tremendous interests due to their intriguing interaction with incident light.

Application of Nanotechnology in Enhanced Recovery Oil and Gas

Ehsan Kianfar*; A Hassani Joshaghani; Seyyed Ali Razavikia

In today’s world, oil and gas are the most vital fuel needs of human societies. However, given the limited oil and gas resources in the world and the limited human ability to explore, produce and exploit hydrocarbon resources, the need to develop new technologies for scientific and practical development and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) it feels. In the meantime, the new and unique nanotechnology has the capacity and potential to make significant changes in various oil and gas fields.

Catalytic Properties of Nanomaterials and Factors Affecting it

Ehsan Kianfar

This chapter, Nanomaterial, especially metal nanoparticles, have unique catalytic properties and are widely used in the preparation of nanocatalysts; these nanocatalysts are used in many chemical reactions to increase the reaction rate and product efficiency. With the production of nanocatalysts on an industrial scale, we can expect a great change in the country’s industries, especially in the oil, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Techniques to Produce Liposomes for the Emerging Market of Nano-Based Formulations

Stéphanie Andrade; Maria João Ramalho; Joana Loureiro*; Maria Carmo Pereira*

Liposomes are one of the most popular drug delivery systems and have been used for clinical applications for almost three decades. Different techniques can be used to prepare and reduce the size of liposomes. The physicochemical properties of liposomes depend on the lipid composition and preparation method. Hence, these must be carefully thought during the liposomes’ design stage.
